I stopped to use the porta potty at Skagit Wildlife Area - Samish Unit, but before I could park the car this hawk swooped up from below and landed in the tree above me. The raptor was about thirty feet up so I switched to a Sigma 150-500mm lens. After zooming in I could see that a field mouse was in its talons. I took lots of shots as the hawk ripped the mouse into bite size morsels. It became quite gory. And once the meal was finished this beautiful bird began rubbing it's beak on the tree as if to clean up afterwards.
