About the Lime

Tracy AdamsTwist of Lime is me, Tracy Adams. I've been designing, building, and hosting Web sites for nearly ten years. Three of those ten years were spent working for the wonderful people at DSi, a Portland, OR advertising agency, where I held the fancy title of Internet Director. My responsibilities included developing project proposals, pitching to clients, designing and building Web sites, and maintaining the agency's network of computers and software.

For the past year I've focused on developing my style as a digital artist. I've created over 150 unique digital image manipulations. I like to take an ordinary image and chop it into something extraordinary, I like to give it Fresh Perspective With A Twist. Each new piece gives me the confidence to try something harder. I'm presently pushing myself to paint more of what I envision, but at the same time I like to photograph what I need. Photoshop is my primary digital tool, Painter is a patient lover whom I hope to rendezvous with more often.

I continue to design and host Web sites, take pictures, make art, remodel the home (never ending), and support my daughter's enthusiasm for playing soccer.

The Thing I've Become

Server and Web site hosting:

  • Server root access
  • Domain registration
  • Virtual host setup
  • FTP setup
  • Email setup
  • MYSQL database setup

Software:

  • Photoshop: The digital paint program of choice.
  • Flash, Freehand, Dreamweaver, Contribute, Fireworks
  • Painter: An awesome paint program.
  • BBEdit: A wonderful tool for managing Web site code among many other uses. The one piece of software I'll never tire of using. The BB crew gets it right and does it elegantly.
  • Xyle Scope: A great little tool for devloping and analyzing sites built with CSS.
  • Style Master: Another fantastic tool for working with CSS.
  • Capture One Pro: Raw image workflow management.
  • Portfolio: Extensis blurb: "Surprisingly affordable, Portfolio quickly handles the tasks of locating, organizing, archiving and publishing your digital work."

Nuts and bolts:

  • SSP Director: PHP and MYSQL database photo album management software. Used to manage Slide Show Pro galleries created in Flash.
  • Lightbox Photo: Photo management online software solution for displaying and selling works.
  • Movable Type Publishing Platform (MT): An online tool for building easy-to-maintain blog, web, and social media sites. MT is used to drive the Twist of Lime blog.
  • Pixelpost (PP): "is an open-source, standards-compliant, multi-lingual, fully extensible photoblog application for the web." I've installed PP and several addons. Design and interface appearance by Twist of Lime.
  • Project Seven (P7): These developers rock at creating wonderful Web site code widgets. I use them all the time because who wants to spend a lot of time testing on all the different browsers when someone else has already done it.
