American Greed

Given America's current financial crisis it seemed appropriate to highlight two of my digital art pieces from April 2007, Cirque du U.S.A and Pinwheel (original entry). Cirque du U.S.A depicts a circus-like atmosphere of greedy people, their handlers and the fans, while Pinwheel depicts the fallout from such behavior. Both works were created from one image, an exterior shot of the New York Stock Exchange (seen below).

Weep and enjoy :(

MT-Hacks, Pagination

I successfully installed Pagination, a Movable Type (MT) plug-in from MT-HACKS. With Pagination I'm able to paginate blog entries by author, category, date-based entries, and entry archives. Pagination even has the ability to break long entries with comments into multiple pages.

Before the Pagination plug-in was installed only ten entries would be displayed per category; any entries prior to the last ten could only be accessed through the archives. Now all category entries are available through the additional "next and "back" page navigation, located underneath the page's last entry.

This is one MT plug-in I highly recommend. There is a free version with limited functionality, and it is tagged with a credit blurb. Several licensed versions are also available.

Come Together

Come Together (Close-up)

As I walked along the train tracks, parallel to a small creek near home, this collection of organic debris caught my eye. Each piece is gently held in place by its neighbor — as though they were meant for each other. Time and the elements will erode the relationship, but for now it is their time to come together.

Both of these images are part of the "Objects of Affinity" photo collection. The top image is a close-up of the bottom image.

Granny's Parlour Room

grannysParlourRoom.jpg

Granny's Parlour Room began with the image below. The cat reminded me of Sylvester from Looney Tunes. I repainted some of the whiskers, created his elongated tail from a section of cat belly, and painted in his cartoon-like eyes and nose. After seeing this fat-cat, I decided to create a scene to help explain the look on his face.

The woman comes from AngellesStock and the curtains are from ~pyronixcore.
