Heading down West Beach, south of Ebey's Landing State Park, I noticed this bald eagle, high up on the cliff, perched on a scraggly tree. He stood out for two reasons: his size in relation to the tree; and, second, his right wing seemed to stick out awkwardly. I also noticed in this image that some kind of long stringy material appeared to be stuck to his back, blowing in the wind. We didn't have a lot of time to spend waiting for him to fly away, but in the moments between walking back and turning back to look after walking only twenty feet, he took off, and was too far away for a decent shot. Damn you, magnificent bird!
