When I saw the source image, an exposed engine, I was instantly drawn to the eye shape within. It went on a mission to create something that didn 't involve an eye because I knew many of the other entrants might do the same. The engine was taken apart in so many unfruitful ways. I despaired over what to do. Nothing worked. As a last ditch effort I decided to randomly search for images on istockphoto.com. Nothing was working. I was about to give up when I noticed I had a lightbox of images on istockphoto.com where I'd been collecting images for future projects. Click! The link was opened, and there it was: a gas mask just waiting to be turned into some worried, freaky, motorized, cat-like abomination. Lots and lots of Photoshop painting to add details, color, and the background.
